At SDG Align, we want to make sustainability a business habit, securely. We take the security of our users’ accounts and sensitive data seriously so to further enhance the protection of your information, we have implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Discover how you can set this up quickly on our platform in the video and learn more about MFA with our FAQ below.

FAQ

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Multi-Factor Authentication, or MFA, is a security mechanism that requires users to provide two or more forms of identification to verify their identity before accessing a system or application. It adds an extra layer of protection by combining something the user knows (e.g., a password) with something they have (e.g., a smartphone) or something they are (e.g., a fingerprint).

Why has SDG Align implemented Multi-Factor Authentication?

SDG Align has implemented Multi-Factor Authentication to enhance the security of user accounts and protect sensitive data. MFA reduces the risk of unauthorized access even if passwords are compromised, as an additional factor is required for authentication.

How do I set up MFA for my SDG Align account?

As outlined in our video tutorial above, to set up MFA, you will need to access your account settings in the top right dropdown menu in the dashboard. From there, you should see an option to enable MFA and follow the steps provided to set it up.

You will be prompted to enter a mobile number to link with your account.

It is important to note that to enable MFA, your email must be verified first. Verifying your email can also be done within the profile settings page.

What are the benefits of using Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-Factor Authentication provides several benefits:

  1. Increased security: MFA adds an extra layer of protection, making it more difficult for unauthorized individuals to access user accounts.
  1. Mitigation of password-related risks: MFA helps combat password-related risks, such as weak or stolen passwords, by requiring an additional factor for authentication.
  1. Enhanced user trust: By implementing MFA, SDG Align demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding user accounts and sensitive data, fostering trust among users.
  1. Compliance with security standards: MFA aligns with best practices and security standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Can MFA be bypassed?

MFA can be bypassed in some cases, usually through sophisticated attacks like phishing or social engineering. However, these attacks are much more challenging for cybercriminals to execute compared to simply stealing a password, making MFA a strong deterrent.

What should I do if I lose my MFA device?

If you lose your MFA device or token, contact us immediately and inform us of the situation. We may require additional verification steps to confirm your identity before helping you regain access to your account.

Will MFA slow down my login process?

Enabling MFA may add a few extra seconds to your login process, as you’ll need to provide the additional verification method(s) each time you log in. However, the added security benefits of MFA far outweigh the minor inconvenience of a slightly longer login process.

Can I disable Multi-Factor Authentication for my SDG Align account?

It is generally recommended to keep Multi-Factor Authentication enabled for enhanced security. However, if you wish to disable MFA for your SDG Align account, you should reach out to the designated system administrator or support team for further assistance.
